18TH HOUSE DISTRICT (A portion of Macomb County)

Current representative: The current representative for the 18th District is Rep. Kevin Hertel (D-St. Clair Shores). The district includes St. Clair Shores, Eastpointe and a portion of Grosse Pointe Shores. Hertel was first elected to the Michigan House in 2016, taking office in 2017. According to his official House biography, Hertel worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as a legislative analyst and then as a special assistant in the office of the president. His brother, Curtis, serves in the Michigan Senate.
