LANSING (NOV. 25, 2019) — Lynn Jondahl, board president of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network (MCFN), announced today that Simon D. Schuster has been named executive director of the organization.
“On behalf of the board of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network I am pleased to announce that Simon D. Schuster has been hired to lead the MCFN,” Jondahl said today. “Simon has experience as a manager, an analyst, a researcher and a journalist, and we are enthusiastically looking forward to working with him in leading us to our next level of development.”
Schuster was a reporter for the Michigan Information & Research Service and a freelance reporter for The Washington Post and The Detroit News. He earned his bachelor’s and Master of Public Policy degrees from Michigan State University, where he was a graduate policy fellow at the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research. Schuster has served on the boards of two Michigan non-profits, including serving as board president of MSU's The State News. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
"I could not be more eager to continue the vital work of this organization and build upon the progress of MCFN's former director, Craig Mauger," Schuster said. "2020 is shaping up to be a year of unprecedented political spending. Tracking donations and dark money throughout Michigan will be crucial to provide Michiganders with insight into the influence of money in the political and policy process."
The organization looks forward to continuing to provide intelligent and insightful information and analysis of how political money is raised and spent in the campaigns that affect Michigan — a task basic to a healthy democracy.
